Safeguarding

This is what our children say about how safe they feel in school.... ( May 2023 )

There are always lots of teachers around to help us.

We have fire drills – teachers show us how to be safe. JL – we have to line up and walk outside.

We all line up if we are going somewhere, and the teachers count us.

We made hands with grown ups we can talk to. They are our trusted adults.

If a person has a lanyard, they are safe to be in school.

We don’t run in school; we have school rules to keep us safe – like give me 5.

We have to be Ready, Respectful and Safe – that keeps us safe.

We have gates at our school and they will be locked.

Our Safeguarding Ethos and Culture

Ghost HIll Infant and Nursery School is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the safety and welfare of children at all times. We expect all staff, Trustees, volunteers and families to share this commitment, and training, monitoring and reporting procedures are in place to ensure this commitment is realised.

We aim to provide a safe environment that is conducive to learning. We also aim to identify children who are suffering or likely to suffer significant harm, and take appropriate to keep them safe in school and at home when required.

Each child has a safeguarding hand. This is a prompt for them to develop skills to support themselves when they are worried, upset or unhappy at home or school.

We have safer recruitment procedures in place, as well as a range of policies and procedures to ensure that your child is safe while at school.

We have four Designated Safeguarding Leads. We also have a designated Trust Director of Safeguarding who monitors our safeguarding and child protection processes along with other schools in the Trust.

If you have any questions regarding the safety of a child during term time please contact one of the designated safeguarding leads via the school office.
