  • Reading Books

Mon 26 Sep 2022 Emily Howley

We are redeveloping our reading scheme at Ghost Hill Infant and Nursery School. We really appreciate your patience while we get this in place. This will make sure that your child is reading books that they know all of the sounds within to help them become a more fluent reader and not have an over reliance on sounding out.

Children will begin to bring home books over the coming weeks. Until then please encourage a love of reading at home by:

    - Reading often to your child (we will provide school library books)

    - Let your child see you reading

    - Use puppets and characters to perform stories

    - Encourage your child to answer questions about the stories that have been read to them

Little Wandle have some excellent parent resources available. You can access them by clicking on the link:

A HUGE thank you to all the staff who have been working really hard to get the books done as soon as possible.

  • Laying Painted Pebbles at Sandringham in Memory of Queen Elizabeth II

Wed 21 Sep 2022 Emily Howley

Mrs Howley visited Sandringham on Sunday and was amazed by all of the flowers and tributes she saw for our late Queen Elizabeth II. The children have been revisiting their work from June on the Queen and her 70 year reign. As part of this, every child at Ghost Hill has painted a pebble to commemorate this historical event. Mrs Howley laid some of these stones at Sandringham to show our respect.

Please do come to school this week to see our work on Queen Elizabeth, including our pebbles. Classes have an allocated slot. We look forward to seeing you there.

  • The Sad Passing of our Queen

Fri 09 Sep 2022 Emily Howley

Yesterday evening we all received the sad news of the passing of Her Majesty the Queen. Today and over the National period of mourning we will be commemorating Queen Elizabeth II. She was the leader of our country and a positive female leader in our community. We will be sending out further details of arrangements for commemorations today. These will begin next week.

We will hold a whole school assembly at 9.10am to mark this historical event. There will also be a minute of silent reflection at the end of the assembly.
